This lorica hamata is a replica of an original from the 1st century AD. Hauberks like this were worn by legionaries between the 2nd century BC and the 3rd century AD.
This hauberk is made of 1.2 mm thick Mild steel rings with an inner diameter of 6 mm, just like the original lorica hamata. It used to take nearly two months to produce a lorica hamata because of the small rings. This hauberk was 30% lighter than later hauberks. Round punched rings are alternated with flat riveted ring
